So I don’t normally post this kind of thing on my blog, but this is too big to ignore: it turns out that the capital of Jordan is SECRETLY AMMAN!

Every fall, the groundskeepers prune the plane trees on the plaza outside City Hall. It might just be me, but I think the knobby branches the pollarding leaves behind make them look like ghost trees, like something from the graveyard in The Legend of Zelda. (However, no matter how hard I push on them, no ghosts come out to pursue me.) The unseasonably beautiful weather we’ve been getting recently rather spoils the effect, however.
