My brother Aaron sent me a text message earlier today that pretty much sums up the Maxpedia experience:
wap encyclopedia with unlimited data is like having a real hitch hikers guide
(Link added.) I haven’t subscribed to my carrier’s data plan for a while, but it sounds pretty sweet.

Does anybody know what this sticker is? I’ve been seeing it all over San Francisco, but I can’t find too much on the Web, and I have no idea what the kanji mean. (I’ve seen the sticker mentioned in connection with Tokyo, which makes me pretty sure that they’re Japanese.)

A recent BoingBoing post speaks of a wonder unleashed by a BYU scientist: carbonated yogurt. My friends will know that I make carbonated fruit for special occasions–I wonder exactly what sort of prior art exists on this point? The Wired News story’s link to the patent involved is what reminds me of this. At the very least, it dates back to 1998, when I went to Minicon 33 and learned of the art of carbonation from Matthew Gress, whose webpage on the subject has more information. (Alas, it doesn’t appear to be working at the moment, but Google and archive.org both cache it.) Good times.
